Fiona's Comments

Subwoofer - what you might call a dog with a sore throat, or a bass speaker of course. Mysticism, intrigue and a bolt of booming mad underworld from the deepest parts of d'Earth. #ThisIsNoOrdinaryJazzNoodling

About the Album

Angela on the Arts' debut album, Within, is freely improvised chamber jazz for trumpet, viola and bass clarinet with special guests. Subwoofer (track 4) features the trio together with Kevin Eichenberger on upright bass with beautiful arco work. You can hear Bonnie Gordon’s cool plucking and gorgeous bow work on the viola, Michelle Oliva on bass clarinet exploring multi-phonics and overtones, and John D'earth on trumpet and percussion...and "talking" on his trumpet mouthpiece towards the end... :-) Check out Within, and follow them on BandCamp. Free to stream, digital downloads and CDs available for purchase.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
