About the Album

Sleepy Creek Samba (named for Sleepy Creek Mountain in Morgan County, West Virginia) is an example of my writing for mid-size jazz ensemble. The score is written for soloist, 5 horns, and rhythm section. Flexible instrumentation is used. This enables the music to be played by many combinations of instruments. Demo of the ensemble score was created by David Arivett.
