Fiona's Comments

Sung with surprise, sung new. not an easy task to maintain such a range of peaks and dips. The trio rests back beautifully - impeccable reserve.

About the Album

The song is from my live EP ' At The Poli Club' recorded on October 2018 which I released this January. It is my dedication to the late, great Nancy Wilson. Nancy never sounded like a typical jazz singer - she phrased songs uniquely as herself, she picked tunes based on all of the heartache she went through and she never was one to stick to the typical way of looking at a jazz standard. The original song as recorded by Nancy with Cannonball Adderley was one of my favorites off of that album. My take on it here is a little more bluesy in style.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
