About the Album

"Shout-Out!" consists of 7 compositions by veteran tenor saxophonist Jeff Hackworth with each one being dedicated to a musician who has influenced him in his musical journey. The list is comprised of 6 saxophonists, Lou Donaldson, Gene Ammons, Houston Person, Maceo Parker, Eddie Harris, Stanley Turrentine and the great composer/bassist Charles Mingus. This track, "Papa Lou's Love Cruise" was written for the great Lou Donaldson. The album also features jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie's long-time guitarist, the inimitable Ed Cherry.
