About the Album

Avant Progressive Chamber Punk Jazz!

Interference is the debut CD from the New Haven Improvisers Collective. NHIC is a far-reaching collective of creative musicians forming into a particular group to play particular music in a particular moment. NHIC is interaction, conflict, and harmony.

The musicians come from jazz, rock, classical, English folk and various experimental backgrounds. The music comes from everywhere. It grooves, it skronks, it's quiet, it's raucous, it reaches for the sublime and it digs in the dirt.

MicroKairos is a feature for viola. Gabriel starts things off with a strong idea that gets picked up by the group into a rollicking saunter through an American landscape of many colors.

Recorded Live to multitrack at Firehouse12 in New Haven, in the Fall of 2007.

Jeff Cedrone - Guitar (left side)
Bob Gorry - Guitar (right side)
Gabriel Kastelle - Viola
Paul McGuire - Soprano Sax
Anne Rhodes - Voice
Carl Testa - Bass, Bass Clarinet
Steve Zieminski - Drums/percussion
