Fiona's Comments

Nice straight-ahead album, in the modern jazz sense. A certain moodiness to the music, even when it swings. This particular track has a pleasant melancholia like looking out over the city on a rainy day.

About the Album

Housewarming is the first album by Baltimore jazz ensemble Jazz Lunch. The record was recorded in a living room in June of 2011. The name Jazz Lunch comes from the event with the same name at a local coffee shop where the band gets together to hash out original music every Sunday. Personnel: Dan Ryan (guitar, compositions), Jon Birkholz (piano, compositions), Ben Frock (trumpet), Brent Madsen (trumpet), Eric Trudel (saxophone), Gary Thomas (saxophone), Zach Swanson (bass), Chad Hochberg (drums), and Frank Russo (drums).

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
