Fiona's Comments

Nightmare jazz for moments when life is feeling a little humdrum. "Ichigo Ichie 2," translates to "Treasure every encounter, for it will never recur 2."

About the Album

“Ichigo Ichie 2” is a track off of pianist-composer Satoko Fujii’s album Ichigo Ichie. Over nearly twenty years of touring and collaborating with some of the world’s most renowned musicians, pianist-composer Satoko Fujii has become a global citizen, evidenced by the orchestras she’s established in several major cities. With Ichigo Ichie, Fujii debuts her first European large ensemble, the Satoko Fujii Orchestra Berlin. Based in her newly adopted home city, the Orchestra Berlin joins a roster of improvising big bands based in New York and Tokyo, Nagoya, and Kobe in Japan. Matthias Schubert, Gebhard Ullmann: tenor sax; Paulina Owczarek: baritone sax; Natsuki Tamura, Richard Koch, Nikolaus Neuser: trumpet; Matthias Müller: trombone; Kazuhisa Uchihashi: guitar; Satoko Fujii: piano; Jan Roder: bass; Michael Griener, Peter Orins: drums.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
