About the Album

At the end of 2005, the members of Percussions de Barcelona asked me for a composition for percussion ensemble and guitar. They suggested that the composition could be somehow related to the North African cultures, and specifically to the atmosphere of the Great Bazaars. During the process of searching material for the work I chanced on a legend ascribed to Moses Maimonides (1135-1204), thinker and philosopher. The old legend relates his amazing flight from the town of Fes, through four of its well-known gates.

Produced by Joan Sanmart and Ferran Conangla Recorded by Ferran Conangla at 44.1 Recording Studios, Girona (Spain), on June 12 & 13 and October 13 & 26, 2006

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
