About the Album

Groove Me Wah is the first track on Zvonimir Tot's CD Sarabande Blue. Sarabande Blue is a jazz/classical crossover for acoustic guitar and string quintet, featuring all original compositions. "Sarabande Blue is a rare, indeed perhaps unique instance of finely detailed writing for unamplified strings along with inspired improvisation arriving at a warm, well-balanced blend." From the liner notes by Howard Mandel “With this brilliant and enthralling album Tot has crafted a genre defying work that is both intimate and cinematic. The delightful and mesmerizing Sarabande Blue, ultimately, is a paean to the universality of the musical experience.” Hrayr Attarian, Chicago Jazz Magazine “All of it carries the elegant gleam of top level musicianship and meticulous tune-smithing on a set of (almost) all Tot originals.” Dan McClaneghan, All About Jazz “As for Zvonimir Tot, his music and solos blend together melodic and bluesy jazz with his classical background and his East European heritage. His fluent solos are full of adventure, his interplay with Kassinger is always stimulating, and his acoustic guitar plays off of and sometimes flies above the other strings.” Scott Yanow, L.A. Jazz Scene

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
