About the Album

Recorded directly before the 2004 presidential elections in a performance at the North River Music series in New York City. Saxophonist Dennis Mitcheltree and his jazz trio - bassist Jesse Crawford and drummer Bill McClellan - presented a premiere of a new work inspired by events and personalities of the 2004 political season, painting a portrait of the humor, seriousness, anger, folly, righteousness and absurdity present in American politics. A large number of additional free downloads of traditional jazz and other songs are available at Michaeltree's Web site.

Lyrics for "Go Cheney Yourself!":
The man, the myth, the cat so full of pith...
This legend of Halliburton, says to Leahy on the Senate floor...

Saddam-Osama, he is in our way, whats that you say?
Cant keep them straight, theyre the same at any rate...

Thats how he sees it, and so will you...
WMD all around, inspectors know boo, you WILL believe what we tell you...

Joe Wilson & Val, Yo, why you got to talk so loud?
Shes a spook Scooter, leak it, cmon boy, make me proud!

If you will, and I do, evil is in its last throes...
Well hunt em, well beat em, well hang em by their toes...

Better be smart, better be cool, stay in my good grace...
If not, you be careful, I just may have to shoot you in the face!

The man, the myth, the cat so full of pith...
This legend of Halliburton, says to Leahy on the Senate floor...

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
