Fiona's Comments

Even better than a 3 step cleanse. One of the better forms of catharsis. Introspective, sparkling and conclusive.

About the Album

"Deeper Spirit" from the new album by Juan Dhas: "Catharsis". "Catharsis" is a new work that sees Juan return to his Classical roots, drawing from the likes of Bach, Chopin, and Debussy; pairing them with recent Modern/Contemporary Jazz influences such as Brad Mehldau, Vardan Ovsepian, Shai Maestro and Nelson Veras. Recorded in February 2018, Juan also decided to experiment with a new trio format, collaborating with local Colombian musicians Ramón Berrocal (drums) and Kike Harker (upright bass). The culminating result is a developed and refined sound, building on the artistic foundation of his debut release to create a collection of nine adventurous compositions.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
