Solid example of how modern jazz can be moody, yet full of life. Satisfying carousel of motion, with each member taking a moment in the spotlight. Nice addition to the AAJ dotd.

About the Album

The Dutch/Danish Quartet Traeben is out with their 2nd album Push. "Top Dog" is the powerful opener, where you get straight into the wonderful interplay of this young fresh quartet. Personnel: Jens Larsen: guitar; Søren Ballegaard: tenor saxophone; Olaf Meijer: bass; Haye Jellema: drums.
