Udden's blend of jazz and folk is a sublime joy to hear. His Plainville albums are filled with languid back-porch-on-a-sunny-afternoon tunes. The new album If The Past Seems So Bright has more edge to it than its predecessor Plainville, which brings the satisfaction of hearing the artist stretch out as well as emphasizing just how pretty the quieter tunes are. Just a gorgeous album.
