About the Album

...the most complex, daring, exhilarating music of Galper's career. --JazzTimes

One of the jazz world's most dynamic pianists, Hal Galper continues the exploration of his "rubato" concept of playing ("Furious Rubato" Origin 82476), this time in a live performance and featuring two icons of American music - bassist Reggie Workman and drummer Rashied Ali. From the propulsive "Take the Coltrane" to standards such as "Autumn Leaves" and "Stella By Starlight," the trio confounds and enlightens with their vibrant and truly original in-the-moment adaptions. Galper's haunting "Soliliquy" is a heartfelt dedication to his friend, saxophonist Michael Brecker.
