Jazz lovers who chose pianist Bill Anschell as "Northwest Instrumentalist of the Year" in 2005 will welcome his finest work to date. Featuring many of Anschell's favorite Seattle players, the new recording is a mix of standards (including both spontaneous performances and Anschells irreverent "derangements"), and Anschells own compositions reflecting his passion for rhythmic experimentation, with influences as diverse as South Indian classical music, traditional Cuban drumming and New Orleans funk.
Night and Day; Bent; Crazy he Calls Me; Emily; As the Crow Flies; Humble Origins; Alone Together; I'll Take Romance; Morning Fog; Faster Than the Speed of Mildew; At the End of the Day.
Bill Anschell: piano; Jeff Johnson: bass; John Bishop: drums; Doug Miller: bass; Jose Martinez: drums; Richard Cole: tenor and soprano saxophones; Thomas Marriot: trumpet and flugelhorn.
