About the Album

Love and Restraint comes from the album Morbidezza of Decadence by Łukasz Borowicki Sextet. Music on this album stems from the European jazz tradition and due to the Danish-Polish line-up, it's close in spirit to the Slavic as well as Nordic melodiousness, space-feeling and the overall music sensibility. Morbidezza of decadence, or the delicacy of decadence, is an attempt to find a good balance between the elements that are often contrasted with each other: melodiousness, fixed structures and aesthetics of order on one side and improvisation, openness, indetermination and aesthetics of deconstruction - on the other. Love and Restraint has an outlined and through-composed form and textures, yet it leaves plenty of room for interpretation and individual expression of each of the musicians, to serve as a vehicle for free musical dialogue.
