About the Album

"Metamorphosis" is the third album of modern jazz-fusion group MaiGroup (EST-SWE) led by bass player Mai Leisz who is mostly known for her work with two time member of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - David Crosby - from The Byrds; Crosby, Stills & Nash and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. "Metamorphosis" was recorded at Groove Masters Studio in Santa Monica, CA by the legendary Jim Scott and the album features world renowned guests such as Bill Frisell, Charles Lloyd, David Crosby and Mai's co-producer Greg Leisz. "Monarch" is the opening track of the album. The composition is pictured as the life stages of a Monarch butterfly and the joy and pain of it. Perhaps we all have to go trough some darkness to see the light. Mai’s music is very confessional and she focuses on communicating emotion through her songs. Her music is an introspective contemplation of life, love and a search for answers… It’s about expanding heart and mind and exploring the depths of your own soul. It’s a journey from an emotional turmoil to a deep peace within. Mai Leisz - fretless bass & composition Greg Leisz - pedal steel guitar Björn Arkö - saxophone Calle Stålenbring - guitar Simon Berggren - piano Jonathan Lundberg - drums
