About the Album

"Rhapsody" is the first track from "In Real Time," 52-year-old trumpeter/composer John Bailey's debut album as a leader. Bailey, who's one of the most in-demand sidemen on the NYC jazz scene, is joined on this album by saxophonist Stacey Dillard, guitarist John Hart, bassist Cameron Brown, and drummer Victor Lewis. Why, after more than 30 years as one of the busiest sidemen in the business, is Bailey now making his debut as a leader? His answer is simple yet profound: "It was just time."
