About the Album
With a velveteen voice, charmingly straightforward delivery, and nuanced rhythmic sensibilities, versatile singer Maria Schafer returns from a full-time tour on the road with the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra to present her debut album, "To Know Love..." This beautifully crafted presentation from Schafer features her modern arrangements of jazz standards and Brazilian tunes with a core guitar trio and expands and contracts the instrumentation from there. In the most sparse charts, intimate tracks feature Schafer's voice with solely guitar or bass, moving on to a hauntingly nostalgic "In Summer" with bass and drums, and finally assuming the full guitar trio with trumpet solos for the closer. The album presents a wide range of moods and concepts for the casual listener as well as the avid jazz lover, all while highlighting the immaculately designed vocal talents of Schafer and her trio headed by Los Angeles guitarist, Shane Savala. credits releases January 19, 2018 Maria Schafer - Vocals Shane Savala - Guitar Kyle Sharamitaro - Drums Joe Butts - Bass Brad Black - Trumpet Produced by Maria Schafer Recorded at Marigny Studios, New Orleans, LA Recorded and mixed by Justin Armstrong Mastered by Mark Rubinstein, Columbus, OH Album design and layout by Maria Schafer Artist photography by Jason Kruppa
