About the Album

Volume 1 is the debut album from Canadian pianist extraordinaire, Stu Harrison. Along with Canadian jazz icons Neil Swainson and Terry Clarke, Harrison presents ten classic jazz standards, presented with modern and exciting arrangements. There is a certain implied importance to this album. It is apparent at first listen. It is not importance in terms of boastful accusation, but of thoughtful, meaningful collaboration and execution. Harrison, Toronto pianist and sideman to many live T.O. music projects including a recurring spot in The Justin Bacchus Collective, is finally releasing his first effort as a leader, Volume 1. This album is Harrison’s first foray into the Toronto Jazz scene under his own name, and together with Clarke and Swainson is revealing the collaborative efforts spanning Baby- Boomer to Gen X’er to reveal a vibrant take on the classic jazz trio.
