Josh Maxey: The Language of Sound and Spirit
Light Cycles (Self Produced) by Josh Maxey
New release from guitarist Maxey, as he continues along on his goal of recording six albums in the span of one year. On this track, he, yet again, illustrates his knack for bringing an expansive sound to the table without sacrificing the intimacy of music that makes it easy to connect with. Sway over swing, good track to drift off to on a lazy afternoon.
The idea behind the title is that, if you are climbing a mountain, the view and terrain might not look easy. There are storms, it's steep, uphill and a lot of work. But, you are on the mountain. The lesson for me is: when climbing a mountain, don't be surprised every time it seems like a mountain. If the terrain is looking difficult, you're headed the right way. Personnel: Josh Maxey, guitar and composition; Brian Charette, piano; Robert Woodcock, bass; and Evan Pazner, drums.comments powered by Disqus
