The Desired Effect
Sticking to electric keyboards and adding to saxes and two guitars, well, it makes for a line-up that should sound pretty strange or be a standard funk groove sound. But it's not; it's surprisingly and pleasantly straight-ahead. A very strong release that's impressive as both a debut album and as a lesson that unusual lineups don't require a sacrifice of conventional jazz sound. Impressive.
