"Soldiering" by Tyler Gilmore's Ninth and Lincoln with Cuong Vu

"Soldiering" by Tyler Gilmore's Ninth and Lincoln with Cuong Vu

From the album

Static Line (Dazzle Recordings) by Tyler Gilmore's Ninth and Lincoln with Cuong Vu

Editor's Comments

This was one of the best big band albums of 2011, featuring musicians from an under-recognized strong Colorado jazz scene. On the Dazzle Records label, started very recently by a Denver jazz club and which has put out some excellent albums in a short period of time. Highly recommended.

About the track

This piece is a musical de-construction of the WWII soldier song "No More Soldiering for Me", based upon the hymn "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". It features Cuong Vu on Trumpet.
