About the Album

Alaadeen's Blues for RC and Josephine, too presents jazz with a decidedly Midwestern sensibility. No young lion, Alaadeens music resonates with the experience of someone who has honed his craft with some of the giants of jazz and R&B. Joining Alaadeen are the Deans of Swing - trumpeter Danny Campbell, trombonist Tim Perryman, keyboardist Reggie Thomas (on piano and B-3 organ), guitarist Willie Matthews, bassist Tyrone Clark, and Drummer Donivan Bailey. A gifted composer, Alaadeen wrote four of the eight tunes on this goodtime straightahead offering. His Blues for RC opens the set with the big sound of his tenor recalling the ghosts of Midwestern tenors past. Wayne Himself takes a couple of twists and turns, settling in for a slow-burning swing. Big Six is a savory helping of the blues, and Big 'un showcases a more contemporary side of Alaadeen.
