About the Album

This tune began its life as an instrumental composition penned by bassist Harvie S on September 10, 2001. Later, he could think of no more appropriate title than "Before."

When Harvie and I first started to discuss ideas for a new cd, he expressed his wish that I lyricise this composition. In doing so, I chose to convey not a literal depiction of the tragedy of September 11, but rather a more universal portrait of the things that change in our lives when the unexpected happens - when the emotional and physical shelters weve come to rely on are taken away.

You can request a copy of the sheet music directly from [email protected]. In addition to myself and Harvie, the musicians on this recording are David Udolf (piano) and Daniel Sadownick (percussion).
