About the track

After four quartet recordings, including last years Crossed Paths (Tapestry 76007-2), it seemed time for a change in the groups make-up. Augmenting the horns was most logical, so a quintet, including my long-time alto sax partner Mark Harris, "How 'Bout Now" is the result. In my writing, I tried to utilize the many different sonic combinations this new band offers. Also, Im now married to the love of my life and soulmate, Susie. The three movement Sweet For Susie is dedicated to her tender heart, as is this entire effort. Sooz Blooz, is the first movement of Sweet For Susie. This 12-bar blues scampers at a quick pace. I hope the results of our recording sends a joyful musical spirit to those who listen. We certainly felt so in the studio.
