About the Album

"Long & Wrong", recorded in August 2002 at Avatar Studios in New York City, features Anton Denner on Alto Sax, Gary Wang on Bass, and Vinson on Drums. This trio has been playing together for over five years now, and the interplay between them gives this trio a true "band" sound. The song begins with an open vamp featuring Anton, which is then followed by an interlude. The interlude leads into an open blues where Anton repeats the melody as Gary and Vinson play a duet. The song breaks down after Vinson's solo, after which the closing melody is stated, concluding Long & Wrong. As The Philadelphia City Paper remarked in a review last year of a live performance of this trio, "Valega's drumming continually evolves, steady rhythmically but given to frequent tonal shifts which create new environments which his bandmates respond to with snap reflexes." Finally, much more about Vinson can be found on the Consilience Productions website, which is dedicated to "Progressive Music for the Socially Curious."
